  • @kevinblitzcki2709
    @kevinblitzcki2709 Год назад

    Hi there, I just bought my first manual shift (always drove Hydro) and took it out for a quick ride and almost shit myself as it freewheeled it all the way down my drive and luckily the uphill is what helped it stop or deaccelerate. It has 5 speed range and I put in in 5th gear and gave her and shortly realized depressing the brake/clutch pedal only made it roll faster, how do you slow it down when you are on paved road going downhill? Also, let's say you're up on a steep hill trying to mow but you need to stop and shift gears, how do you keep the tractor from rolling while you change gears? E-brake does not really stop it and depressing clutch will send it rolling down... Thanks :)

    Don’t bushings “rub”, where bearings “Roll”? My question is wouldn’t a bearing work better? If so, do they make a bearing that is tougher than the factory ones? Also, are most all lawn carts the size bearing?

    • @KeystoneMotorsports
      @KeystoneMotorsports Год назад

      They do, but will carry a little more load. You can get better bearings online. Most carts use 1-3/8 OD by whatever ID bearings, you can get them online pretty cheap and sealed.

    Very interesting and helpful when getting into older mowers with no manual (repair or operating that is). Just finished building a clutch disc for an '86 Toro with a 5 speed Peerless and now that I have it moving, first and second gear felt like the only ones that work right; it wasn't anything like a manual transmission car where speed is attained progressively. This one wanted one gear for flat ground, and a different one for climbing. We have a fairly significant slope to our back yard, and the mower won't climb it in anything except first, which is like walking with a toolbox in your hands slow. I was left wondering if this was a designed feature on the transmission, or if I'll be attempting to crack the tranny open for the next phase of restoration. It doesn't feel like it has any brakes whatsoever with the 'brake' pedal, but sticking the clutch in to down change for the hill (or anywhere else) certainly seems to have enough resistance in the belts that it slows down well enough that way. It was a real trip learning to drive it as _It_ wanted to be driven today, anticipating where I'd need to ride the clutch pedal so I could drop into first and for turning/stopping!

    So is this a wheel barrow wheel? If so I guess I can see how a bushing will suffice instead of a bearing. But if it's a lawn cart wheel, wouldn't that constant rubbing of the bushing against the axle cause grinding, squeeling, wear and tear, etc? I just can't see how bushings would be superior to bearings

    Great video and time saver for me! I just did this with your instructions to a 2500 HF winch I added as a rear mount Polaris ATV. Took me about15 minutes including soldering the connectors. My unit did not have the rubber grommets, it looks like they are using the insulation of the wire as a compression fitting and I was able to put wires through without drilling holes. I have this same winch on my trailer and will be putting it on another ATV I have so this is a great upgrade. I have been left screwed from the remote not working so the manual backup is essential to me. It makes this winch an amazing value. Thanks again!
